Pursuing the ice cream arts can be done, deliciously, on any day of the year, but when the third Sunday of July arrives, our dreamiest ice cream daydreams come to fanciful fruition in so many mouthwatering ways.
That’s National Ice Cream Day, and scoop shops, restaurants, and other businesses will mark the lip-smacking celebration in a host of ways.
Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena will be the place to revel in Scooper Bowl Sunday on July 19. Guests will be invited to “(t)aste their way across the globe with delicious ice cream flavors from around the world,” at the event, and complimentary samples will be part of the snacky scene.

The Great Ice Cream Fair at Smorgasburg LA will line up the waffle bowls and cups July 19, with several favorite vendors serving creative and cool fare. Sad Girl Creamery will be there with Strawberry Tres Leches Shortcake Tacos, oh yum, while a Thai tea float featuring mango gelato is on the Moom Maam menu.
Entrance is free, and the World Cup final will also be part of the vibe. Find the market at ROW DTLA in the Arts District.
And Salt & Straw is giving customers the chance to Build Your Own Pint Sundae for $12.50.
You’ll pick the three scoops and enjoy them in a “personalized pint,” complete with festive stickers; hot fudge, rainbow sprinkles, whipped cream, and a cherry are part of the festive promotion.
