BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 34-year-old man accused of shooting four people, including a minor, in Oildale in early July has pleaded not guilty to a weapon charge, according to court records.
Tyler Boyer was arraigned Wednesday and entered a not guilty plea to discharging a firearm in the commission of a specified felony, causing great bodily injury and/or death.
Kern County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 200 block of Decatur Street on Sunday, July 5, at around 1:40 a.m. Four victims were taken to a hospital and were expected to survive.
Boyer was initially charged with attempted murder. That charge no longer appears on the Kern County court website.
Boyer is scheduled to return to court next week for a bail review. His latest court appearance last week was delayed for a medical reason.
A preliminary hearing is set for late September.
