Bay Area authorities are seeking the public’s help identifying a man killed in a vehicle crash 40 years ago in the hopes of notifying his family.
The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner has released a sketch of a passenger of a van that had crashed near Shore Road just west of Lovers Lane in Hollister (San Benito County) around 4 p.m. on Aug. 1, 1986. He was in a Chevrolet Corvair with two other passengers when the van was struck by a Cadillac El Dorado.
The victim was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister and then to Stanford Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the agency said.
One of the passengers identified him as Louis Sanchez, but his name could not be confirmed, the medical examiner said.
The victim was white or Latino, 20 to 40 years old, stood 5 feet, 4 inches, and weighed 165 pounds. He had dark brown hair, a brown mustache, brown eyes and natural teeth “in good repair,” the agency said. He did not have tattoos.
The medical examiner’s office did not immediately respond to a request for more details on the case, including why the sketch was released 40 years later.
