Gustavo Dudamel performs at the FIFA World Cup Final halftime show – NBC Los Angeles

Los Angeles Philharmonic Director Gustavo Dudamel led an energetic symphony at the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show on Sunday.

Dudamel rocked a blue suit with his last name on the back in the same, classic style as the athletes. He led the New York Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela during the Spain vs. Argentina showdown in New Jersey, along with a surprise appearance by the Muppets.

His appearance followed pop star Madonna, who kicked off the inaugural halftime with a performance of “Music.” Following Madonna’s performance, Dudamel’s orchestras performed “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes, followed by Norway’s beloved rowing chant.

South Korean pop band BTS then performed, followed by Justin Bieber and then Shakira.

Dudamel has served as the LA Philharmonic’s music director since 2009. He was appointed as the music and artistic director of the New York Philharmonic, which he will join in September.
