Temperatures should stay near normal through the weekend, though clouds will begin increasing by Sunday as tropical moisture moves into Northern California.
That moisture may bring higher humidity and a chance of Sierra showers or storms by the middle of next week.
Friday forecast
After the recent heat, cooler air is now settling into the region and helping keep temperatures much more comfortable. Today’s high in Sacramento is expected to reach 90 degrees, a few degrees below 93, the average high for this time of year.
Across the Valley and Foothills, many locations are running 5 to 11 degrees cooler than Thursday, thanks to cooler air spilling inland and a strengthening marine influence.
Onshore breezes
Skies will be clear and a light onshore breeze will pick up in the afternoon making for another delightful summer day.
Mild July weekend
The marine layer along the coast is expected to keep conditions comfortable through the weekend, with highs staying near normal.
Tropical Storm Elida
However, clouds will begin increasing by Sunday as tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Elida gets pulled into our monsoonal weather pattern while sustaining our onshore winds.
Foothills & Sierra 7 day forecast
That added moisture could make the air feel a little more humid early next week and may also bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the Sierra by midweek.
Valley 7 day forecast
This moisture could even bring a couple of Valley showers and will help keep temperatures at or below normal mid-summer values, but the main story will be increasing clouds and a more humid feel through the middle of the week.
