Adding to its lineup of locations in Venice, Santa Monica and Redondo Beach, Karen Lord Pilates Movement kicked off summer with the unveiling of a new studio on Melrose Avenue in Hancock Park. But more than a place for Pilates — though visitors can always expect a killer workout here — this studio operates as a third space where clients can also reset and find connections in wellness, art and community. 7024 Melrose Ave., Hancock Park

The Los Angeles chapter of this global running community ensures friendship and fitness during its weekly workouts. Every Monday at 6:45 p.m., 150-200 Midnight Runners gather in Santa Monica (often at Library Alehouse) to jog a 5K broken up by three exercise stops, with about 10 captains leading the way to ensure the evening’s fun, safety and, of course, exercise commitment. The group is planning an event collaboration with Lululemon Abbot Kinney on July 20, and often partners with brands like Biodance and Amazfit for particularly exciting runs. Various locations
