Widespread thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Sierra on Tuesday. A few storms could produce rain that’s heavy enough for localized flooding.
Tuesday is a KCRA 3 weather Impact Day because of the thunderstorm risk and the need for people to be aware of the weather changes in the mountains. Have a way to check radar and get alerts if you will be outdoors or traveling through the area.
The Valley and Foothills will be sunny and hot.
A few more thunderstorms will pop up along the Sierra crest Wednesday. These storms will not linger long because a westerly breeze will push them along.
The rest of the week will be dry and milder with more of an onshore breeze.

Thunderstorms are in the forecast in the Sierra between noon and 8 pm Tuesday. Storms will produce heavy rain and lightning.
Flood Watch Tuesday
A Flood Watch will be in effect Tuesday afternoon and evening from the Tahoe basin through Mono County. Localized flash flooding is possible wherever storms produce heavy rainfall.

The Valley and Foothills will be sunny and hot Tuesday.
Temperature trend
An onshore breeze will kick in after Tuesday and help bring Valley temperatures back down to a more comfortable level for late July.

Thunderstorms will be widespread in the Sierra Tuesday. A few isolated cells are possible on Wednesday, but they will move along fairly quickly.
Valley 7 day forecast
Tuesday will be hot and dry. The rest of the work week will be a little milder thanks to the onshore breeze.
