Lane closures begin for I-80, US 50 in Sacramento

(FOX40.COM) — Overnight lane closures on a major Sacramento freeway are beginning Monday night and are expected to last through the end of the week.

Three construction projects in Sacramento and Yolo counties are coordinating their schedules to conduct “continuous nighttime lane reductions” along eastbound U.S. Highway 50 and Interstate 80, the California Department of Transportation announced in a news release.

The work zone begins at the Enterprise Boulevard exit in West Sacramento and continues east along Highway 50, ending at the State Route 99/Business 80 interchange in Sacramento.

The lanes will be closed on Monday through Friday this week from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Lanes 1 and 2 will be closed on the Yolo I-80 Rehabilitation Project and the I-80 Express Lanes Project, and Lanes 1-3 will be closed for the FIX50 portion of the roadway.

FIX50, a $511 million endeavor to improve U.S. Highway 50 in Sacramento, will soon come to a close, a Caltrans official told FOX40 earlier this summer.
