Two children were resuscitated Sunday after nearly drowning at the Nelson Bar Boat Ramp in Lake Oroville, according to California State Parks Capt. Todd Jones.
Jones said that around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were found “face down” in the water, and were immediately pulled out of the water. The mother of the children, as well as a bystander, administered CPR on the children. Jones said that by the time State Parks arrived on the scene, both children were conscious and breathing, and were treated by Butte County EMS and Cal Fire-Butte County medics.
The children were transported by Butte County EMS to Enloe Medical Center. Jones said State Parks did not provide any patient care at the scene, and referred to the incident as a “non-fatal drowning.”
“We’re glad that it turned out to be that way and not something else, because that could have been a lot worse,” Jones said. “So we’re very thankful that both children were doing well at the time of arrival.”
