ANAHEIM, Calif. — They have gone west. The Pittsburgh Penguins (2-1-0), young and old men, are in the duck pond, hoping to erase the quackery of their 6-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday. They face the Anaheim Ducks (1-1-0) tonight at the Honda Center.

Grab some coffee with dinner because puck drop is late. Expect the first action around 10:44 p.m. ET.

The Penguins started well on Thursday, but a shorthanded goal against in the first period and a few mistakes in the second period unraveled the effort, and the Rangers converted opportunities.

Penguins goalie Arturs Silovs had a rough night, too. He stopped 24 of 30 shots, and a couple of long-range shots by Rangers’ defenseman Adam Fox slipped past while the game was still competitive.

Anaheim beat the San Jose Sharks in a wild affair Saturday, 7-6 in OT. Chris Kreider and Cutter Gauthier had a pair of goals, and Leo Carlsson had three points (1-2-3) in the win.

Silovs took the bulk of the work at practice, so we expect Tristan Jarry to start, keeping the rotation intact. Kris Letang’s status will be determined closer to the game, but the Penguins are not having a morning skate, so there will not be an update.
