JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman’s body was found on the banks of Goodbys Creek, right next to Hooters, earlier this month.
News4JAX first started asking JSO about its investigation on July 10 after viewers tipped us off.
One witness sent us video and said he saw JSO investigators at the Hooters restaurant on San Jose Boulevard. He said he was in a boat and saw JSO pulling a dead body, which appeared to be unclothed, from the water.
According to a JSO incident report released Tuesday, the woman was discovered around 11:30 a.m. by an unknown witness who then went inside and notified a Hooters manager.
JSO pronounced the adult woman dead on the scene. JSO has not said whether she has been identified.
On Friday, JSO confirmed that the case is still ongoing as investigators await an official cause-of-death ruling by the Duval County Medical Examiner.
