BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — One person died and another is hospitalized after a shooting Sunday evening in east Bakersfield.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said on July 19, 2026, at around 7:30 p.m., deputies were called out to the 800 block of Crane Street for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
When deputies arrived, they found two victims of gunshot wounds.
KCSO said one was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to the hospital in “stable” condition.
According to KCSO, homicide detectives were called out to the scene to assume the investigation.
There have been no arrests. The investigation is active and ongoing.
