Santa Clarita families looking for a magical summer getaway may want to plan a visit to the Disneyland Resort.
In the 167th installment of KHTS’ Extremely Quirky Destinations series, we explore the Happiest Place on Earth and take a look at what’s new during Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary celebration.
Located in Anaheim, Disneyland Resort remains one of Southern California’s most popular family destinations, offering attractions, entertainment and experiences for guests of all ages. Whether you’re planning a family vacation, a date night or a day trip with friends, summer is one of the best times to visit.
The biggest event happening at the resort this summer is Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration.
Throughout the parks, guests will find commemorative decorations, exclusive merchandise, specialty food offerings and limited-time entertainment honoring seven decades of Disney magic.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour, a two-hour experience that takes guests through Disneyland’s rich history while providing several exclusive perks.
During the tour, guests learn about significant moments in Disneyland history, including stories rarely shared with the public.
The experience also includes rides aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat and Disneyland Railroad, Lightning Lane access for one family-friendly attraction, access to a reserved viewing area for a nighttime spectacular, complimentary popcorn and a special commemorative keepsake. The limited-time guided tour is available through Aug. 9 on select dates and times.
Families looking to save money can also take advantage of special summer offers. Disneyland Resort is offering discounted kids’ tickets, along with an Evening Ticket option that allows guests to visit the parks later in the day at a reduced price.
The Evening Ticket is valid Sundays through Wednesdays from July 12 through Aug. 5, 2026. Admission begins at 7 p.m. at Disneyland Park and 5 p.m. at Disney California Adventure Park, with guests able to stay until each park closes.
Guests returning to Disneyland may also notice several recent additions and future projects throughout the resort.
One of the biggest recent milestones is the reopening of Pirates of the Caribbean, the beloved attraction that originally debuted in 1967 and reopened following refurbishment on June 26, 2026.
Disney is also continuing work on several highly anticipated additions, including attractions inspired by Coco and Avatar: The Way of Water, which are currently under development.
Beyond the rides, Disneyland Resort continues to offer a full lineup of entertainment. Guests at Disneyland Park can watch the Magic Happens daytime parade before ending the evening with the return of the fan-favorite Paint the Night nighttime spectacular.
Across the Esplanade at Disney California Adventure, visitors can experience the popular World of Color nighttime show.
The resort is also home to immersive lands including Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Cars Land, giving families plenty to explore between the two parks during a summer visit.
