Fire damages apartment unit in downtown Sacramento; cause unknown

Sacramento Fire crews responded to a fire that damaged at least one apartment unit in downtown Sacramento around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

The fire happened on E Street near 14th Street. A large emergency response was dispatched to the scene as firefighters worked to put out the flames.

Cleanup was underway following the fire. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire or whether anyone was injured.
