(KRON) — It’s an opening that has been years in the making. San Francisco’s long-awaited Jollibee is making its debut in the city next Friday, July 31, a company spokesperson confirmed.
The restaurant hours are from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 934 Market St., right next to the Powell Street BART station. Customers have the option to dine in, order to-go or order online.
Mayor Daniel Lurie expressed his excitement for Jollibee’s opening in a brief social media message posted Tuesday morning.
“Years in the making, Jollibee is coming to San Francisco… Let’s go, San Francisco,” Lurie said in the video. The opening comes after numerous delays, according to Lurie, caused by city permits and red tape.

‘It’s Philippines’ time now’: Filipino entertainment makes way onto global stage
The Jollibee takes over the space that was previously occupied by a Payless ShoeSource, according to city records. Rumors about the Market Street opening have been circulating as early as 2021.
KRON4 reported in 2024, confirming that Jollibee would be opening in San Francisco. At the time, the company said the Market Street location would open in 2025.
The Market Street Jollibee won’t be the first to open in San Francisco. For years, there was a Jollibee at 200 4th St., near Yerba Buena Gardens and the Moscone Center. That location reportedly closed back in 2011.
Although the Filipino chain closed in the city and had no presence in the Bay Area epicenter for years, Jollibee views San Francisco as an important market in its growth.
“The SF community has been so wonderful to the brand,” a Jollibee spokesperson said in a statement back in 2024. “As the brand expands across North America, SF will continue to be a key growth market in this region.”
Jollibee opened its first U.S. restaurant in Daly City in 1998. There are currently 12 Jollibees open in the Bay Area.
The fast food chain was founded in 1978 in the Philippines and has since opened more than 1,700 locations worldwide. USA Today’s 10Best list for 2026 named Jollibee the best fried chicken in the U.S. for the third straight year.
