Two Oakland County doctors have received national honors in the field of family medicine.
Dr. Alicia Steele, a family physician in Hazel Park, and Dr. Dina F. Ibrahim, a family physician in Royal Oak, have been awarded the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Steele received a medical degree from the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba, and completed her residency at Wayne State University.
“Dr. Steele exemplifies the mission and values of family medicine,” said Dr. Bashar Yalldo, president of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians. “Her work in Hazel Park has made a lasting difference for individuals and families alike.”
Ibrahim, affiliated with Henry Ford Health West Bloomfield Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital, received a medical degree from St. Matthew’s University in the Cayman Islands, and completed her residency at Henry Ford Hospital.
“Dr. Ibrahim’s service to her community and commitment to education and leadership are admirable,” said Yalldo. “We are honored to celebrate this milestone with her.”
Both Drs. Steele and Ibrahim join more than 18,000 family physicians nationwide who have achieved this honor, which represents a career marked by dedication to excellent patient care, lifelong education, community service and clinical leadership. The AAFP was the first national medical specialty organization to require its members to complete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited continuing medical education every three years. It is the only medical specialty society devoted solely to primary care.
