Authorities arrested a person Tuesday accused of pistol-whipping someone a month earlier in East Oakland.
Oakland police say the beating happened on June 8 on the 1100 block of 70th Avenue, after which the assailant fled in a white car. Investigators zeroed in on a suspect on June 18, and found that person this week along with their vehicle, according to a news release Wednesday by the Oakland Police Department.
In the process, officers found multiple homemade guns, along with a BB gun, ammunition and what appeared to be drugs. Such firearms — which appear to be constructed using metal pipes and other at-home materials — “pose a significant risk to the public and the individuals who possess or use them,” the agency said.
Further details on the initial assault, as well as injuries suffered by the victim in that incident, were not released Wednesday.
