Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead Wednesday morning along Martin Luther King Jr. Way in North Oakland.
Investigators were called shortly before 7:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man was “down on the ground” on the 4300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way, according to a release by the Oakland Police Department. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene by Oakland firefighters called to help the man.
Numerous details about the killing, including a potential motive, remained unclear Wednesday afternoon. The man’s name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been announced.
