Ramona wildlife sanctuary featured in film
A screening of “Critter Encounters – A Forever Home” will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. July 30 at Rancho Coastal Humane Society, 389 Requeza St. The film is about the work of a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary, Critter Encounters, in Ramona. The nonprofit is led by wildlife specialist Andrea Burgan and lead keeper Connor Hoyt and provides a home to animals that “can’t return to the wild because of human interference.” The animals become ambassadors for their species to educate the community about wildlife, coexistence, and conservation. The event includes live animal encounters and conversations with the founder, along with food and wine. Tickets are $35; $60 for two; $10 for kids 3-12. Call for artists to exhibit
The city of Encinitas is putting out a call for San Diego County artists to exhibit their artwork. There are no fees to apply and no commissions on any artwork sales. The Teen Foster Program at Rancho Coastal Humane Society gives teenagers 15 and older an opportunity to work hands-on with homeless animals while they earn service hours for their school or other organization. The Lemon Grove Lions Club recently partnered with Busy Bee Garden Co-op to help create a pollinator-friendly garden at the Early Childhood Education Center in Lemon Grove. The Lions Club donated $350 to help pay for the project and joined the Busy Bee Garden Co-op in planting the garden. The historic Rancho Buena Vista Adobe from the 1800s offers guided tours with a glimpse into early California ranch life.
