Cal State Fullerton and OLLI have reached a mutual and positive understanding that reflects their shared commitment to partnership and student success.
In the spirit of collaboration, they will be forming an advisory group to address the key issues that have been raised — including safety, accessibility, parking, cost, and continuity — and to identify solutions that best serve the campus.
As they move forward, the goal is to work together productively and in consultation with one another. To support this process, the university has also extended the relocation timeline to no sooner than June 2026, allowing time for continued discussion and review.
The goal is to shape a path forward that both honors OLLI’s legacy and aligns with the university’s mission and long-term needs. They are committed to maintaining open, respectful communication and engaging in this work with a spirit of collaboration.
More information about next steps will be shared with the community in the coming weeks.
RGC Forced Relocation Resistance Statement on Formation
of Advisory Committee 10-24-2025
“We enter this new phase with a promising process going forward, but without a predetermined outcome. OLLI’s participation in the advisory committee is not a capitulation to relocation; rather, it reflects our commitment to pragmatic, win-win problem-solving that addresses the facility requirements and safety of our members within a spectrum of possible outcomes.
“A win-win outcome is not guaranteed. There are complex issues that must be addressed. Still, the announcement of the advisory committee and changes in the university management’s preferred timetable provide the necessary breathing room for problem-solving and a greater understanding of our complementary goals.
“We welcome CSUF Risk Manager John Beisner’s role as facilitator and leader of the university management team. His involvement enhances our confidence in the university’s commitment to addressing our concerns seriously and preserving OLLI as a center of excellence and an invaluable university support organization.
“As an independent advocacy organization, the Resistance will continue to organize members and friends of OLLI to support pragmatic outcomes in the best interests of our vibrant lifelong learning community. The Forced Relocation Resistance supports the advisory committee process led by John Beisner because it promotes meaningful problem-solving.
“We’re proud that OLLI members organized an independent advocacy organization, and we are sure they will remain vigilant as the committee works through the issues.”
