FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A heartfelt community effort has reunited a 90-year-old Fresno veteran and retired police lieutenant with a one-of-a-kind cane that was accidentally left behind while shopping.

Jim Pryce, a retired Fresno Police lieutenant and Air Force veteran, misplaced the handmade wooden cane at Costco in Clovis.

After multiple trips back to the store, the cane was never turned in, prompting his daughter to post a plea on social media.

The cane, handcrafted by a fellow retired officer, features Pryce’s Fresno Police badge, motor officer pin, and Honor Flight pin, making it priceless to the family.

After FOX26 shared the story, an employee at Gibson Farm Market found the cane by a corn bin, recognized it, and contacted the Clovis Police Department.

The sentimental keepsake has now been returned to Pryce, who continues to serve the community as a docent at the Veterans Memorial Museum in downtown Fresno.
