BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Coffee Road between Stockdale Highway and Truxtun Avenue reopened Thursday afternoon after a gas leak in the area caused the road to be closed for several hours.
The Bakersfield Police Department posted about the incident Thursday morning at around 10:30 a.m.
Police asked residents to use alternative routes.

The Bakersfield Fire Department posted at around 1:45 p.m. that the gas leak was clear. “The gas leak incident has been safely resolved, and the areas will begin being reopened to traffic,” said in a social media post.
The cause of the gas leak was not said. Eyewitness News has reached out to the department for more information, but has not heard back.

The area impacted several shopping centers, including restaurants at lunch hour.

One of the restaurants included Kimchee Korean. In a Instagram Story, the restaurant said, “It’s unfortunate cause we prepped for the day and this is going to take a big toll on our restaurant. Every hour that we’re closed, it’s gonna hurt us.”
