UPDATE: According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the gas leak in southwest Bakersfield near Coffee Road and Stockdale Highway has been resolved.
The area is now safe for normal traffic.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Officials are responding to a gas leak on Coffee Road near Stockdale Highway Thursday morning.
The Bakersfield Fire Department received the call for the incident on Coffee Road near Stockdale Highway at around 9:40 a.m. July 23.
It was a natural gas leak, according to city officials.
Coffee Road between Stockdale Highway and Truxtun Avenue are being blocked, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Two engines and a hazmat unit are responding to the scene, along with a battalion chief.
