Central California’s premier summer basketball leagues is bringing its brand of high-level competition to Porterville for a special exhibition game next month.

Players from the Fresno Pro-Am, an NBA-sanctioned and NCAA-certified summer league, will face a local all-star team assembled by Porterville’s The Ville Academy on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Granite Hills High School. Details on the gametime and a link for ticket information will be coming soon.

Organizers expect a capacity crowd for what’s shaping up to be one of Porterville’s biggest basketball events of the summer. The exhibition offers local fans a rare chance to watch collegiate and professional-caliber talent compete in their own community while giving many of Porterville’s top players the chance to test themselves against some of the Central Valley’s best competition.

We want to give Porterville a night of basketball they’ll remember while showing local players what’s possible when talent, opportunity and community come together.” said Alton Williams, Fresno Pro-Am president. Williams was a founder of the league in 2021.

Wiliams is a former Porterville College men’s basketball star who went on to play for NAIA power Montana State Northern.

Founded in 2021, the Fresno Pro-Am has grown into one of California’s premier summer basketball platforms, featuring NBA, NCAA, junior college, NAIA and professional players while attracting a rapidly growing digital audience. The Porterville exhibition reflects the league’s mission of bringing elite basketball directly to communities across the Central Valley.

The Ville Academy’s roster is expected to feature many of the area’s top local players, creating a matchup that combines hometown pride with high-level competition. With tickets expected to sell quickly, organizers believe the exhibition has the potential to become one of the largest basketball showcases Porterville has hosted in recent years.
