A California man has been accused of forcibly sex-trafficking multiple women in Maine for years.
According to the Department of Justice, 40-year-old Shawn Bonneau was charged with sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and wire fraud.
Prosecutors say Bonneau used force, fraud, or coercion to make three women engage in commercial sex acts in Maine and other states between January 2016 and December 2023 for his financial benefit.
He also allegedly used email to fraudulently obtain money from another person during that same time.
If convicted, Bonneau faces at least 15 years in prison and could receive a maximum life sentence.
