A grim discovery in the San Francisco Bay has renewed attention on a deadly boating disaster that two people dead and two others still missing.
San Francisco police said officers aboard the department’s marine unit found a body floating in the water around 10 a.m. Saturday, just west of the Golden Gate Bridge near Point Diablo.
Authorities recovered the body from the bay, and the San Francisco medical examiner will now work to identify the person and notify next of kin.

Saturday’s incident comes nearly two weeks after a boating disaster near Alcatraz Island left two people dead and missing. 16 people also had to be rescued.
20 people were on board a vessel called Volare for a memorial service when the boat capsized on July 14.

A 79-year-old man died immediately while the body of a 58-year-old woman was found two days later near Treasure Island.
The wreckage of the vessel was also found three days after the disaster, but two people remained missing.
Officials have not linked the Alcatraz incident with the discovered body on Saturday.
