Rosman Verdugo’s career day set the tone on Saturday for high Single-A Fort Wayne.

The 21-year-old infielder tied a career-high with five RBIs in the TinCaps’ 14-4 win over visiting Lake County.

Three of the runs scored on Verdugo’s 12th homer of the season, one shy of his career high.

Verdugo also walked twice in lifting his batting line to .229/.347/.400 in his third tour with Fort Wayne.

First baseman Luke Cantwell (1.007 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his fourth homer, two RBIs, a walk and three runs scored.

Shortstop Justin DeCriscio (.820 OPS) went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, a walk and three runs scored.

Center fielder Ryan Wideman (.666 OPS) went 3-for-4 with an RBI, his 11th steal and two runs scored.

Right-hander Bryan Balzer (1-1, 3.54 ERA) threw five scoreless innings in the win.

Fort Wayne is 40-54.

Missions 4, Frisco 3: CF Jake Cunningham (.794 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his third homer, a double and three RBIs. 1B Albert Fabian (.681 OPS) went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. RHP Andrew Thurman (2-5, 5.77 ERA) struck out 10 and allowed three runs in six innings in the win. RHP Josh Mallitz (4.50 ERA) struck out three over three scoreless innings to earn his fourth save.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (49-46)

Storm 10, Visalia 2: SS Jorge Quintana (.677 OPS) went 2-for-3 with his fourth homer, a double, two RBIs, a walk and three runs scored. 1B Yimy Tovar (.544 OPS) drove in three runs on two hits. C Ty Harvey (.856 OPS) went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in his return from the injured list (wrist).

 

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (8-30)

Padres 8, Guardians 3 (8): LF Gabriel Teran (1.000 OPS) and 2B Osmy Osario (.747 OPS) both hit their second homers of the season. Osorio drove in three runs.
