Seaport Village and the surrounding parks have been a “tourist trap” for decades. The San Diego Convention Center, Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and hotels bring thousands of tourists every year.
Unfortunately, as a resident who frequents the boardwalk, it’s hard to see past the hypodermic needles in the rocks, all-day harbor police calls for service and the large unhoused population.
Ringer’s Roller Rink, Malibu Farm and the upcoming Gladstone’s restaurant shine a light on an area many residents feared would be torn down.
The business owners are doing their part; it’s time for the city and Port to hold up their end of the bargain.
