More than 13,000 people celebrated Mexico’s participation in the World Cup at Casa México Los Angeles 2026, presented by the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, and Telemundo 52. The official hospitality venue of the government of Mexico concluded its six-week run on July 19.
Starting on June 11, Casa México became one of Los Angeles’ premier destinations for fans following the Mexican National Team throughout the tournament. Free tickets for each of the five free live viewing parties sold out within days — and later, within minutes — reflecting the enthusiasm of the community.
Hosted at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, the Downtown Los Angeles museum dedicated to telling the story of Mexicans, Mexican Americans and the Latino experience in Los Angeles, Casa México drew more than 10,000 attendees to its five Live Viewing Parties. Following Mexico’s elimination from the tournament, nearly 2,000 additional guests participated in two closing celebrations: a Summer of Salsa concert featuring La Verdad and Super DJ Robby and a Mariachi Family Festival showcasing performances by three local student ensembles.
“Casa México Los Angeles demonstrated the extraordinary power of soccer to bring people together while celebrating the richness of Mexican culture,” Consul General Carlos González Gutiérrez said. “We are deeply grateful to the thousands of families and visitors who joined us throughout the tournament. At a time when North America welcomed the world, Casa México proudly showcased the warmth, creativity and diversity that define Mexico and the vibrant Mexican community that calls this city home,”
This marks the first time Casa México, the government of Mexico’s official World Cup hospitality venue, has been presented in Los Angeles, the city with the largest population of people of Mexican origin outside of Mexico.
Casa México offered visitors an immersive cultural experience celebrating the richness and diversity of Mexico. Through art exhibitions, live music and dance performances, regional cuisine and family-friendly activities, the program showcased the traditions and cultural heritage of different Mexican states while bringing communities together through the language of soccer.
“Casa México welcomed not only Mexican and Mexican American communities from across the Los Angeles region but also visitors from Latino, Asian, Black and Afro-Latino communities who came together to celebrate the World Cup alongside Mexico’s supporters,” said Tracy Serrano, Interim CEO of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. “Bringing together such a diverse audience is a remarkable achievement for our institution, especially as we celebrate our 15th anniversary.”
While attending Casa México, approximately another 1,000 visitors also explored LA Plaza’s galleries, including the special exhibitions “Goles de Pintura,” by Mexican artist Jazzamoart, and “Tejiendo Redes: Uniendo comunidades a través del arte y el fútbol,” by Betsabeé Romero. Both are inspired by the passion, history and cultural significance of soccer.
Visitors also experienced LA Plaza’s permanent exhibitions, “L.A. Starts Here!” and “Calle Principal: Mi México en Los Ángeles,” which explore the history and contributions of Mexicans and Mexican Americans in the founding and development of Los Angeles.
“Casa México exemplified the power of community connection through culture, storytelling and sport,” said Todd Mokhtari, president and general manager of Telemundo 52 and NBC4. “At Telemundo 52, we are proud to serve as a bridge between our audiences and the experiences that matter most to them. Seeing thousands of people come together to celebrate their shared passion for soccer and Mexican heritage made this partnership especially meaningful and reflects the important role we play in bringing communities together.”
As the host state of Casa México, Nayarit showcased its rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions and natural beauty through performances by its folkloric ballet and the participation of Riviera Nayarit, one of Mexico’s premier tourism destinations.
Casa México also featured performances by the State of Oaxaca, tourism presentations from Baja California Sur and Los Cabos, appearances by the cultural icon Dr. Simi, and music sessions by DJ José Galván.
