One person suffered major injuries and another person minor injuries after a box truck collided with two vehicles on Interstate 80 and later went off an elevated part of Interstate 5 and landed on the roadway below in Sacramento on Monday, officials said.

The California Highway Patrol said the box truck first collided with the two vehicles while traveling westbound on I-80, and then continued driving to the northbound transition with I-5.

The vehicle then hit the center median guardrail and landed on San Juan Road below I-5.

LiveCopter 3 footage showed damage to the railing of I-5 where the vehicle went off the roadway.

Sacramento Fire said crews extricated the driver from the box truck. They were taken to a trauma facility in critical condition.

Another person who was in another vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
