A Long Beach man was sentenced Monday to 40 years in prison after an undercover investigation uncovered thousands of images of child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices, Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced.
Robert Stephan Wilson Jr., 50, was sentenced on one count of child exploitation.
The case began with an undercover operation led by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. The office also investigated and prosecuted the case with assistance from the Long Beach Police Department and the FBI.
“During our operation, we found thousands of images of child sexual abuse material stored on Wilson’s electronic devices,” Fitch said. “We are committed to protecting our children from abuse and exploitation by predators online.”
Harrison County Circuit Court Judge Lisa P. Dodson sentenced Wilson to 40 years, with 18 years to be served day for day without the possibility of parole in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was also sentenced to five years of probation.
Wilson was ordered to pay $1,000 to the Victims of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Fund and $1,000 to the Mississippi Children’s Trust Fund.
He must also register as a sex offender.
Fitch thanked the FBI and Long Beach police for their assistance in the investigation and prosecution.
