Weather Impact Days: Extended heat wave to begin late week in Northern California
Temperatures will reach the triple digits starting Friday and could keep climbing into next week.
August is set to begin with a heat wave for Northern California, and high temperatures could stay in the triple digits for multiple days.
Friday through Monday are KCRA 3 weather Impact Days because of the expected heat. Valley highs will reach between 100 and 106 degrees. Temperatures will peak close to 100 degrees in the Foothills.

Mornings will become warm, too, as the Delta breeze shuts down.
There is the potential for this heat to persist further into next week.
So far this summer, the broad area of high pressure that governs the weather across the West has been shifted to the east. The most intense heat stayed east with that high.
A broad ridge of high pressure or “heat dome” will drift closer to Northern California this weekend and send temperatures soaring into the triple digits.
Over the next few days, that ridge or “heat dome” will drift farther west. The heat will follow, and the Delta breeze will fade away. High pressure will be just about overhead for Northern California this weekend into next week. This will allow afternoon temperatures to soar and it will prevent refreshing cooling in the evenings.
If you have outdoor activities planned for this weekend or next week, schedule them for the morning if possible. If you work outdoors, hydrate ahead of time and during work with water and electrolytes.
