A 33-year-old Livonia man is facing multiple sex crime charges in Oakland County for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend’s 11-year-old daughter.
Jeremiah Michael Bishop is charged with four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct – victim under 13 following an investigation that began last month after allegations were reported by the child’s grandfather, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

During interviews with detectives, the alleged victim’s mother reported that her daughter had told her about the abuse and provided text messages allegedly sent by Bishop admitting it, the sheriff’s office said. The child, interviewed at Care House, also disclosed multiple incidents of abuse, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Bishop at his mother’s house on July 23.
“Nothing is more important than protecting our children. The allegations that this 31(sic)-year-old man sexually assaulted an 11-year-old child are horrific,” Sheriff Mike Bouchard stated in a news release. “Anyone who preys on a child must be held fully accountable. We will do everything in our power to protect children and pursue justice for victims.”
At Bishop’s arraignment on July 24 in Novi’s 52-1 District Court, bond was set at $850,000 cash or surety. If he posts bond, Bishop will be monitored by GPS tether as ordered by the court. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 7 for a probable cause conference before 52-1 Judge Travis Reeds.
Second-degree criminal sexual conduct is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
