If you had to add up the times you’ve sized up a salmon, you might come up with a pretty impressive number.

Of course, we’re talking about when a fish fan peruses a menu and determines if they’re ordering a salmon salad or salmon burger or teriyaki salmon or another salmon-centric dish.

Considering the fish, and what you’ve got a hankering for, is something you’ve likely done in more than one or two restaurants.

But a different sort of consideration will take palate-tempting place on the afternoon and evening of Sunday, Aug. 2. That’s when Joint Seafood will host a block party, and the centerpiece of the event is an Ōra King salmon.

Make an attempt to guess the weight and you might depart with the delicacy. Before you go, if you’re the winner, be sure to make a little time for the staff to prep the fish for you: They’ll filet it.

Even if your salmon sizing-up skills aren’t quite honed, there will be other delicious diversions to enjoy. Heng Heng Chicken Rice will be there, and Moom Maam Gelato, and a host of food-favorite purveyors representing some of the best of Southern California’s cuisine scene.

Live music will add to the atmosphere of the outdoor event, and drinks, too.

Don’t be too blue if you don’t leave with the salmon, however. Joint Seafood’s shop has several tempting offerings available for purchase, including Dry-Aged Ōra King, Smokey Salmon, and the Butcher’s Box, which features both types of salmon as well as branzino, black cod, and barramundi.
