Outfielder Kavares Tears is headed to the Padres’ spring training complex in Peoria, Ariz., for imaging after landing on high Single-A Fort Wayne’s seven-injured list with a left shoulder injury.

Tears sustained the injury while diving head-first into second base on Saturday. He reported felt a pop in the shoulder.

A fourth-round compensation pick in 2024, Tears was hitting .225/.326/.471 with 13 homers and 44 RBIs in 69 games in his second full year.

The 13 home runs tied what he did in 107 games last year at low Single-A Lake Elsinore and he did a lot of that damage in June as he paired six homers with a .300/.364/.717 batting line across 17 games that month.

Tears was hitting .190/.266/.414 with four homers in 14 games in July.
