Three men have been arrested in connection with a daytime shooting near Market and Jones streets that left a person with life-threatening injuries, San Francisco police said Tuesday.
Donovan Redmond Hayes, 22, Deandre Gippson, 30, and Terry Brown, 26, were arrested during separate police operations after the shooting Monday afternoon, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Police have not said what led to the shooting or identified the victim.
Officers assigned to the city’s Drug Market Agency Coordination Center were patrolling near Market and Jones streets at about 2:58 p.m. Monday when they heard gunfire.
They searched the area and found a person who had been wounded. Officers provided aid until paramedics arrived and took the victim to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The suspected gunman fled on foot, police said.
Investigators subsequently identified three suspects and directed officers to an apartment building on the 100 block of Waller Street, about two miles from the shooting scene.
At about 5:52 p.m. Monday, officers saw Hayes and Gippson leave the building, police said. The two men allegedly ran when officers tried to detain them, but they were apprehended after a brief foot chase.
Police said officers seized a loaded firearm and other evidence during the arrests. Investigators later obtained a warrant and searched a residence on the same block of Waller Street, where they found additional evidence allegedly connected to the shooting.
Hayes was booked into San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and several firearm and ammunition offenses, police said. He also was booked on an Alameda County arrest warrant involving an alleged petty theft violation.
Gippson was booked on suspicion of possessing ammunition as a person with a felony conviction and possessing methamphetamine.
The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office had not publicly announced a charging decision as of Tuesday afternoon.
Officers found Brown at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 5400 block of Third Street in the Bayview.
Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm, firearm possession by a person with a felony conviction, carrying a concealed and loaded firearm in public and violating probation.
Police did not say whether investigators believe the loaded firearm recovered Monday was used in the Market Street shooting.
