A light Delta breeze will help keep Wednesday morning pleasant, but temperatures will climb higher this afternoon.
Valley highs will top out in the mid and upper 90s. In the foothills, forecast highs will climb to low and mid 90s.
As heat builds this week, it will become the main weather story beginning Friday, when widespread triple-digit temperatures arrive. Friday and beyond are KCRA 3 WEATHER IMPACT DAYS due to expected highs of 100 degrees or more.
Despite the hot afternoons, overnight temperatures will fall into the 60s, providing some relief and recovery from the heat.
Some forecast models hint at some relief arriving by the middle of next week, but it is expected to be short and only by a few degrees.
Remember to drink plenty of water, limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the afternoon, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and take frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
