BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a man in Arvin back in 2019.

The Arvin Police Department said on April 16, 2019, around 10:52 p.m., officers were called to a shots-fired call in the 200 block of Meyer Street.
When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man died from his injuries at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 26-year-old Roland Van Johnson.

Police said a suspect was identified during the investigation, and detectives obtained an arrest warrant. With the help of Kern County District Attorney Investigators and Bakersfield Police Department officers, the suspect was arrested on July 28 at around 5:02 a.m. in Bakersfield.
The suspect has been identified as a 29-year-old Alex Corales.

Corales was booked into the Kern County Jail for murder without bail.
