Criminal charges have been issued against a Pontiac man for the fatal shooting of a Waterford Township man last Saturday night in Pontiac.
Marquan DeAngelo Henderson, 23, was arraigned Wednesday in 50th District Court on one count each of second-degree murder and felony firearm for the death of Antwon Deshaun Herring, 23. Herring was shot once in the head, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and lifesaving measures were rendered at the scene by deputies, followed by personnel from the Waterford Regional Fire Department and STAR EMS. Herring was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Henderson was arrested at the scene of the shooting — a block party on Mariva Street — after identifying himself as the shooter, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies recovered a handgun from Henderson as evidence, the sheriff’s office said.
At Henderson’s arraignment, Judge Ronda Gross denied bond and remanded him to the Oakland County Jail. Henderson is due back in court on Aug. 11 for a probable cause conference, and a preliminary exam is scheduled for Aug. 18.
Second-degree murder is punishable by up to life in prison. Felony firearm carries a mandatory two years incarceration consecutive to any other related sentence.
