Elon Musk’s xAI, currently owned by SpaceX, is suing Minnesota’s attorney general over a new state law that would ban so-called “nudify apps,” which are easy ways for AI users to create bogus nude pictures of schoolgirls and women. The Minnesota state law, which takes effect Saturday, would levy fines of $500,000 any time someone uses an app or website to create or post sexualized images or videos. xAI says the law imposes what it calls an “overbroad, content-based ban on free speech and the tools of visual expression” and calls it a clumsy attempt to prohibit nudification.
