BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Through an investigation in Lamont, detectives with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection to a copper wire theft.
Law enforcement arrested 29-year-old Rodrigo Garcia for an alleged copper wire theft from a Lamont area farming company while he was on felony probation.
Detectives located Garcia at Lopez Recycling & Wrecking Yard in Lamont.
KCSO said detectives learned that Garcia had attempted to recycle the stolen copper wire at the business.
Garcia was arrested on suspicion of grand theft of copper wire, possession of stolen copper wire, vandalism, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license.
KCSO said there are “numerous” copper wire thefts reported throughout the county to the Sheriff’s Office that costs companies millions of dollars each year to repair damages.
As a result, law enforcement is urging residents to notify officers of copper wire thefts.
