The Los Angeles County Fire Department was battling a blaze at a commercial building in Vernon.
Firefighters said the third-alarm fire started just before 3:20 p.m. in the 4600 block of Hampton Street. Heavy smoke and flames were visible, according to LA County Fire.
Crews were making progress on extinguishing the fire after moving to defensive mode.
