California is increasing its hourly minimum wage to $17.40 for 2027, the governor said in a July 31 press release.
The current statewide minimum wage is $16.90. California does not have a lower rate for tipped employees.
“We believe if you work hard, you deserve a decent paycheck,” Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said in the press release.
