SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks got another key piece of business done this week, announcing Friday that they’ve signed restricted free agent forward Collin Graf to a three-year, $12.75 million contract extension.

The deal, which begins this year, carries an average annual value of $4.25 million and expires at the end of the 2028-29 season, when Graf will still be an RFA. Graf’s contract, per PuckPedia, is all in base salary with no signing bonuses.

The undrafted Graf, who turns 24 in September, was coming off a three-year contract he signed with the Sharks as a college free agent in April 2024. He is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in 2030.

The Sharks on Wednesday signed center Macklin Celebrini to a five-year, $94 million contract extension that begins in 2027-28. After the Celebrini deal was completed, Sharks general manager Mike Grier mentioned that he was also nearing a new deal for the do-everything Graf.

“Collin was a big part of our team’s improvement this past season, being an effective penalty killer for us, and his versatility in the lineup was extremely valuable,” Grier said in a statement. His hard-working attitude and work ethic are a big reason why his game took another stride last year, and he continues to be an important person in our young group of players. We’re happy we are able to keep him a Shark for the next several seasons.”

Playing up and down the lineup, including the top line with Celebrini and Will Smith, Graf finished this past season with 21 goals, third most on the Sharks roster, and was also sixth with 46 points. Graf this past season also became one of the Sharks’ top penalty-killing forwards, and factored in all three of the team’s shorthanded goals in 2025-26.

In his NHL career, Graf has 59 points in 121 games.

Grier also mentioned on Wednesday that he was hoping to sign Smith, 21, to a long-term extension. In two NHL seasons, Smith has 104 points in 143 games, and was the Sharks’ second-leading scorer this past season with 59 points in 69 games.

Smith, the fourth-overall selection in the 2023 NHL draft, is entering the final year of his entry-level contract and has been eligible to sign an extension since July 1.
