Get out the gold stars, red apples or better yet, sincere thanks and appreciation for Kern County’s top teachers, honored as Kern County Education Champions of the Year.
On May 7 at the Historic Bell Tower Plaza, the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office recognized the Teachers of the Year from 57 districts across the county. From there, three who went through an extensive selection process were unveiled as the 2026 Kern County Teachers of the Year finalists.
Angel Rose Gabion, Edmund R. Maino and Amanda Meszaros were named the 2026 Teachers of the Year and are now eligible to apply for the California Teacher of the Year program.
“This night signifies the success of each member of the education community. Each person represents and does their part to make students feel welcomed, heard and validated,” Kern County Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Mendiburu said in a statement. “Because of them, we see success and growth in the students we serve.”
