BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The City of Bakersfield welcomed a group of international visitors this week as 20 students from its sister city of Wakayama, Japan, arrived for the 32nd Wakayama Summer Cultural Study Visit.

During their time in Bakersfield, the students met with Mayor Karen Goh at City Hall and toured Bakersfield Fire Station One.

Bakersfield and Wakayama have shared a sister city partnership for more than six decades, building cultural connections through generations of student exchanges and official visits.
