NorCal weekend event roundup: Sacramento-area things to do for August 1-2
Looking for things to do this weekend? Here is a list of activities in Northern California from Aug 1-2.
Sacramento County
California State Fair
The California State Fair will run for its last weekend. Hours of operation for Friday to Sunday are 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 1 features a film festival and fireworks. Aug. 2 is the last day of the fair and is expected to be busy. State Fair officials recommend arriving well before parking lots and the entrance gates close.
Entry for vehicles into the parking lots closes at 7 p.m. with entrance gates closing at 8 p.m. Hand stamps will not be given out past 6:30 p.m. and will only be accepted until 7 p.m.

Tickets are available online or in person at the Cal Expo Box Office. There are no fees at the Box Office.
Capital City Food Festival
Ben Ali Shriners Event Center will host a food festival on Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Food trucks with a variety of cuisines, cooking contests, local vendors, activities for kids and more can be found at the festival.
General admission costs $10 and kids 12 and under enter for free. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
Stanislaus County
Rick Springfield
Rick Springfield will play at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto on Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Springfield is known for the songs, “Jessie’s Girl,” “Love Somebody,” and “Don’t Talk to Strangers.”

Circus of Horror
For those who are counting down the days until Halloween, you’re in luck. The Modesto Centre Plaza will host Circus of Horror on Aug. 2. There will be two shows at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. filled with sinister clowns, acrobatics and different performances.

Yolo County
Davis Farmers Market 50th anniversary
The Davis Farmers Market will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Aug. 1. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Central Park, there will be live music, live cooking demonstrations, family-friendly activities, a free photo booth and a collection of Davis Farmers Market archive photos on display.
Woodland Train Depot 115th Celebration
The Woodland Train Depot will celebrate its 115th anniversary on Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be cake and hot dogs available while supplies last.
The Woodland Train Depot was built in 1911 and currently houses a museum that educates people about early railroad travel, telegraph communication, single track train operations, local history and ongoing restoration work.
