OAKLAND, Calif. (July 31, 2026) – Blue Shield of California and Providence have reached a new agreement that ensures the nonprofit health plan’s Commercial HMO, PPO, and Medi-Cal members will continue to have in-network access to Providence hospitals, providers, and care teams throughout California.
The agreement includes Providence’s extensive network of hospitals, physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers, and ancillary providers serving communities across Los Angeles, Orange, Sonoma, Napa, Humboldt, and San Bernardino counties. The renewed collaboration also maintains access to Facey Medical Group, Providence St. John’s Physician Partners, Axminister Medical Group, Providence Medical Group, Mission Heritage Medical Group, St. Mary High Desert Medical Group, and St. Joseph and St. Jude Heritage Medical Group.
In addition, eligible Los Angeles County residents enrolled in a Blue Shield benefit plan through Covered California will gain expanded access to Providence providers, further strengthening access to quality, affordable care.
The collaboration advances Blue Shield and Providence’s commitment to a shared focus on improving quality, enhancing the member experience, and supporting more efficient, coordinated healthcare delivery.
