Re “Leaders clash over park restrooms” (July 28): Why did Councilmember Raul Campillo vote to approve the city budget if he was against the cuts to park restrooms? I appreciate that he is speaking out against the cuts, but the budget did not require a unanimous vote to pass. This shows that our representatives do not fully read or understand the budget and how it affects the citizens of San Diego.

I’m sure that there are other expenditures that could have been reduced or cut in order to keep the restrooms open during the middle of summer and tourist season. Here’s a solution: The city should start a GoFundMe page to raise money to reopen the restrooms to full capacity. The $546,000 budget divided by the population of 1.41 million would be 39 cents per citizen. I’ll donate $100 to cover those who cannot afford to donate 39 cents towards the cause.
