Many members of the Encinitas community gathered July 23 at a home in Encinitas to celebrate the 100th birthday of veteran Bob Austin, who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Community groups, government officials and more attended the event. A flyer for the event described Austin as “A True Patriot. A Proud Soldier. A Beloved Member Of Our Community” and added that he was being celebrated for “A Century of Life, Love & Service To Our Country And Community.” A note of appreciation on the flyer added “Thank you Bob, for your service, your strength, and the legacy you continue to inspire.”
